“Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat” was announced by Hon’ble Prime Minister on 31st October, 2015 on the occasion of the 140th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. Subsequently, the Finance Minister announced the initiative in his Budget Speech for 2016-17.
Through this innovative measure the knowledge of the culture, traditions practiced at different States & UTs will lead to an enhanced understanding and bonding between the States, thereby strengthening the unity and integrity of India.
In this initiative Rajasthan has been paired with Assam. A food festival was organized in September 2017 by the Office of the Resident Commissioner in coordination with Office of the Resident Commissioner, Assam. The Rajasthani food was made available in Assam Bhawan, Chanakyapuri on the day for invitees. Guest House was decorated in Rajasthani Theme along with display of Rajasthani Handicrafts and literature at Assam Bhawan. Similarly, Assamese Food was provided in Rajasthan State Guest House, Chanakyapuri on 15th September 2017. Guest House was decorated in Assamese Theme. Smt. Vasundhara Raje, Hon’ble Chief Minister, Rajasthan and Shri Sarbanada Sonowal, Hon’ble Chief Minister, Assam graced the occasions respectively. Many Union Cabinet Ministers, Ministers of State, Senior Officers and local state organisations also participated in the events.
